The Freedom Programme

The Freedom Programme is a 12 week programme which works to break the cycle of domestic violence and abuse through work with women who have experienced such abuse. This means that a woman can join at any point as each session is completely self-contained, but each combines with the others to build the complete programme.  This work is especially crucial for many women who are isolated and unable to seek help from statutory services.

The Freedom Programme is delivered at six venues across East Hampshire Fareham, Gosport, Havant and Portsmouth.

The Who’s in Charge?

The Who’s in Charge? Group (WiC?) is a 9 session educational/therapeutic program for parents of a child who is acting abusively towards them or beyond their control.

Power to Change

Power to Change is a 12 week women only group work programme.

The three main aims of the programme are:

  • To change the patterns of behaviour learned by the women within abusive relationships
  • To raise awareness of women’s basic rights
  • To build self esteem. Self determination and empowerment

The programme includes basic rights, an understanding of and ability to set boundaries and the use of basic assertiveness techniques.

You and Me, Mum

“You and Me, Mum” was developed in 2007 by Women’s Aid Federation (Northern Ireland) in partnership with Women’s Aid groups. The programme was profiled as a standard of best practice at the ‘Raising the Standards’ conference in Guernsey (October 2007).The programme helps mothers who have experienced domestic violence to explore their role as mothers, the impact of domestic violence upon their child(ren), and the impact of domestic violence upon their relationship with their child(ren).

It is a ten-week programme which is delivered in a non-threatening, non- judgmental environment and aims to promote the ethos of self-help and empowerment.
