Target Hardening

The Target Hardening coordinator ensures that the client is able to stay in their home safely and securely.

For some clients, moving to a refuge is not appropriate for them. They may choose to stay in their current homes.  The Target Hardening Coordinator aims to make contact with the client within 24-72hrs of receiving the referral. On contacting the client, a risk assessment is undertaken and an initial Target Hardening appointment is made at the earliest convenience.

Once the initial appointment is complete, a referral is made to the Blue Lamp Trust. A joint visit between the Target Hardening coordinator, the Blue Lamp Trust and the client is conducted and security measures are installed. The Target Hardening coordinator remains with the client during the appointment to provide general outreach support and to answer any questions or queries the client may have.

The Target Hardening Coordinator role for Southern Domestic Abuse Service (in partnership with the Blue Lamp Trust) went live on 1st October 2015.
